Hi purrfect cat fans!

Welcome to the brand new My Three Cats Bury blog.

As a lifelong cat lover, veterinary nurse, cat advocate, and your local Bury premium cat sitter I wanted to bring you all along on the journey, and I hope you'll enjoy the updates. There will be monthly themes to the weekly posts but these aren't set in stone so if there is something you'd love Tattle Tails to talk about then please get in touch. You can do so via the website, e-mail me at [email protected], or call on 0161 307 7598. You'll also find me on Facebook, Instagram, and Tiktok.

About me

Frazier

I'm Jen Taylor, pictured on the right with my Frazier, who's sadly no longer with me but my first kitty child of my own and the best boy (we all think that about our bubbas don't we!).

I am a registered veterinary nurse and hold my Feline Nursing Diploma (through what was International Society of Feline Medicine, now iCatCare veterinary society), an internal medicine certificate, and am studying feline behaviour. I've always supported cat charities, animal rescues, and I previously had pens in the garden to foster for Cats Protection, something I loved doing and wish I could do more of. Frazier was adopted from Cats Protection and I'll never understand how he became stray. My luck, though.

Why cat sitting

I previously thought, before getting in to veterinary work just over 10 years ago, that I would LOVE to run a cattery. As time has gone on and I've seen my own cats be stressed post cattery stays, and studied more, the understanding regarding feline needs and how we as their chosen slaves can best serve them has increased. I am all about advocating for my patients in my nursing role, and the same applies with cat sitting. I would love to help you give your cat the most seamless transition to their change in care provider for the time you're away, whilst giving you peace of mind about the level of care, happiness, and wellbeing of your cat(s). Of course it doesn't hurt to have someone opening/closing curtains, sorting lights, bins, whatever else you need in the house while you're away. If you're like me you'll always think you've left something on - this way you won't need to worry!

I know with my vet nursing experience I can support the kitties of Bury, and their humans, very well, with compassion and understanding. We are led by the cats we care for, when they're ready to play, have strokes, cuddles, we'll be happy to oblige, and if that doesn't happen that's ok too, whatever makes them happiest in their own home. Cats will also exhibit more natural behaviours to them at home, which will help us notice any changes, as behavioural alterations can often mask pain or illness due to the stress they feel being taken out of their territory.

What's next?

As we're in spring, heading to summer, we're going to start with toxins, plants initially, and things to be mindful of for your cat that can trigger development of illness. Again, if there's anything you want me to cover specifically then please get in touch, I'd love to hear from you.

My Three Cats - Bury covers from Ramsbottom to Prestwich, Ainsworth out to Heywood, and all in-between.
